Gladstone Evergreen Container
Artist: Andy MacDougall
👉 Andy’s Website
“A few years ago, I was contracted by HGTV to put together a community generated mural project during SXSW in Austin, and I always wanted to bring the idea to the Comox Valley – so we will be doing it as part of Courtenay’s first Mural Festival, and we’re stoked! We’re going to screenprint a wall of picture frames, and then invite local artists to come down and help us fill them with beautiful works of art.”
“The paint-in will happen July 10-11-12 in the afternoons. Noon until 5 each day. Show up, sign in, pick up your brush and paint, and go to it. Kids under 12 can participate, but should do it with an adult. Really want to thank Josh and his mural crew for the opportunity, Wachiay Studio and other sponsors for the donation of materials, and Alexandra and Gladstone for providing the space and support to make it happen. Let’s get creating!” – Andy

Janet and Neil’s Fence
Artist:
Nate Schmold & Josh Klassen
Nate Schmold is a dedicated multi-media artist producing illustration, music, paintings, and even video games. His work rubs lovingly against absurdism and an obsessive desire to express the familiar and often intense states of human emotion and mental health. For some reason he really likes tuna salad on a freshly toasted Eggo waffle.
Josh Klassen has been creating art his entire life. After a year of Fine Arts studies at North Island College, he chose to pursue a lifestyle of learning through hands-on experience. His creative path has taken him from doodling on freight trains in his early years to leading community mural projects with youth, from painting neighborhood garage doors to working in graphic design, from commissioned portraits to solo café exhibitions—and making hip-hop music along the way. Originally from rural Black Creek, Josh now lives in Courtenay, BC, Canada with his wife and daughter.

Drew & Amanda’s Fence
Artist:
Lauren Correia
Raised in the Comox Valley, shaped by tide pools and wild berries. I walked away from a fine arts degree to make art on my own terms, for myself. Now I’m 23, working full time, building toward a future in murals and sign painting. I’m versatile, focused, and ready for anything with a paintable surface.
Colour matters. Lines matter. I make work that holds its ground.

Nadine’s Fence
Artist:
Isabelle Porteous
Isabelle Porteous is a queer mural artist born and raised in the Comox Valley, seeking to bring colour and life to community, commercial, and individual spaces through her art. She is inspired by the beauty of the landscape, flora, and fauna of the west coast, bringing a sense of place and locality. Her style is a mixture of the line-work and pattern she developed studying printmaking at Alberta University of the Arts, and the expressive shapes and movement of natural forms. Isabelle’s work brings her own queer joy and experience to the forefront through bright colour palettes and a sense of celebration and vibrancy.

Lush Community Garden
Artist:
Anna Rambow
You’ll usually find Anna Rambow organizing events, but this time she’s flexing her creative muscles with her first mural. She loves working with collage, and she’s bringing that passion to life in a large-scale piece featuring a collage of line drawings inspired by the heart and spirit of Harmston’s community.

Josh and Anna’s Steps
Artist:
Summer Scott
Summer Scott is a Canadian artist whose practice utilizes drawing, painting, and collage. Summer’s vivid and playful work is inspired by the cyclical movements of nature and explores the intersection between Fine and Decorative arts through stories of myth and imagination.

Josh’s Shed
Artist:
Kristen Roos
Kristen Roos is an interdisciplinary artist and educator whose work spans electronic music, sound design, animation, printmaking, textiles, and media archaeology. His installations and compositions often explore the sonic textures of landscapes and forgotten technologies, blending the tactile with the digital—from looms and radio signals to vintage software and pixel art.
Rooted in media archaeology, Roos’s recent work investigates the early creative uses of computers, drawing connections between algorithmic music composition, Jacquard looms, and 1980s paint software. His project Universal Synthesizer Interface exemplifies this, composed with vintage MIDI software that both limits and informs the music, creating a dialogue between human intent and machine logic.
Free Walls
The free wall area will be revealed at the wrap up party for Wall Things Art, where artists will be able to contribute to putting art on the walls! After the unveiling, these walls are welcome to be repainted on an on-going basis by any artist wishing to express themselves throughout the year.

As part of the Wall Things Art wrap-up party, this wall will become part of an exciting multi-artist ‘exquisite corpse’ mural.
